A skilled and versatile trumpet player, Brian Fincher feels equally as comfortable in both classical and jazz settings. While being proficient in both genres, Brian’s real passion is Jazz. He has performed for thousands playing trumpet in jazz ensembles across the US.
Brian has performed with many of the most prominent figures on the music scene today, including Wayne Bergeron, Allen Vizzutti, Brad Leali, Lynn Roberts, Jo Lawry, Bill Watrous, Lynn Seaton, Woody Witt, Vaughn Nark, Chris Vadala, Rich DeRosa, Andre Hayward, and Jim Pugh.
In the summer of 2013, Brian lived in Los Angeles where he played lead trumpet in the Disneyland All-American College Band. While in the band he played five sets a day at Disneyland where he performed with Bob Mintzer, Gordon Goodwin, Wycliffe Gordon, Peter Erskine, Jiggs Whigham, John Clayton, Gregg Field, Steve Houghton, Sal Lozano and Rex Richardson.
Brian grew up in a small town north of Houston called Willis, TX. Brian graduated from Sam Houston State University with his B. M. in trumpet performance. He just graduated with his M. M. In jazz pedagogy from the University of North Texas where he was awarded a Teaching Assistantship in Jazz Theory and Jazz Improvisation, and played in the One O’ Clock Lab Band.
Brian is currently living in Houston, TX, where his schedule is filled with a mix of private teaching and performing. He is a member of the Houston Jazz Orchestra and performs with the Jazz Houston Orchestra.
